Airbnb Management Glasgow: Opening The Doors To Their First Eco-Villa

Sustainability has been a major (and much needed) trend over the past couple of years. With Governments placing legislation on banning plastic straws and charging for plastic bags. Consumers attitudes have changed from purchasing less clothing to using re-usable water bottles and coffee cups on the back of more education and awareness. Airbnb Management Glasgow have looked these consumer consumption habits and have opened Glasgow’s first ‘Eco-Villa’ for those who desire a short to long-term let in the Scottish city.

The Building

Built in 2018 and opening in March 2019 was a brand new luxury complex in Glasgow’s Merchant City near the River Clyde. With large floor to ceiling windows, spacious rooms and a large rooftop garden these apartments are some of the most glamours, luxurious…and expensive in the city. Airbnb Management Glasgow acquired one of the penthouse suites which is kitted out with three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as a spacious open plan living/kitchen area, access to the roof garden and a large balcony. We implemented smart technology to help conserve energy within the apartment. For example, motion sensor lighting and energy conserving gas and electric fittings. As well as this all the bulbs in the flat are LED to further conserve energy as well as triple glazing windows to keep the heat in and the bitter cold out.

Eco-Villa

We take interior design very seriously at Airbnb Management Glasgow, choosing only the best fabrics and materials. However with this apartment we wanted to do something new and different with this challenge. All furniture is pre-loved from charity shops which we have given a ‘glow-up’. Using paints and varnishing we have managed to achieve luxury without adding to the problem of mass-consumption. As well as this, any fabrics used such as bedding and cushions are made from bio-degradable and recyclable fabrics. We have somehow managed to achieve a zero plastic space – managing to find alternative sources.
